The world of tufting.
My most recent work delves into the art of tufting. No longer content with crochet work and installations, I can now “paint” with fiber. Standing before a stretched canvas and the applying line and color, the process is similar to painting. Tufting pulls many of my acquired skills, between working in reverse as you would in printmaking, choosing fibers to blend or contrast, and working with different tuft lengths, pieces can perform much like a sculptural relief. With this new method of working, I have explored my own natural inclinations to abstract expressionism and Mid-Century Modern design.
